Writing about what
gets inherited when
being known changes shape.

James Buchan writes fiction that moves between a one-room schoolhouse and a phone lit up at 2am — tracing what stays true about the hunger to be seen, and what doesn't. More books are on the way.

About James

James Buchan is an indie author with a knack for taking an idea and weaving it into a full-blown story. Everyday moments — a stray comment, a passing thought, something lived through and not quite shaken off — are often where his stories start. After decades spent writing technical documents — work that demanded exact facts and figures — he found creative writing to be the outlet he'd been craving: a chance to finally write in his own voice instead of someone else's spec sheet.

He debuted in 2026 with his first book, and has several more manuscripts in various stages of completion, spanning different genres — including something a little darker and more tense currently taking shape. Expect more from James soon.

"The hunger to be seen — a flaw in us, or simply the price of being human?"
